Allegany County, “Sensory Processing, An Evening of Learning and Fun for Parents and Children”
October 2, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Parents, have you ever observed your chil-dren having meltdowns, hitting their heads, rub-bing their hands on soft items, biting themselves, or running from a room with their hands over their ears? Have you been at a loss on how to support your child who cannot communicate what is bother-ing them? This workshop will provide an overview of the 7 sensory systems that may be under respon-sive or over responsive and causing your child to engage in challenging behaviors. Parents and care-givers will learn strategies to meet the needs of chil-dren who may have sensory processing disorders. Opportunities will be provided to create materials to use at home and to see strategies modeled. Dr. Janet Mattern, FSU, will present this class and her pre-service teaching students will work with the children. Refreshments will be served.
Bring your children! This is a fun event for them and a learning time for parents!
