November 18, 2015 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm EST
STAR Sharing Treatment and Autism Resources
Dr. Crofton will discuss challenges and strategies that have shown success in achieving optimal oral health for pediatric patients with autism. Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) and other sensitivities to stimuli will be addressed, as well as challenges in communication, behavior, health and special oral issues.
The session will also discuss the roles of other stakeholders, (e.g. parents and other family members, physicians, occupational therapists, teachers) and specific ways they can work together to maintain optimal oral health for the child. Specific behaviors and other signs (which include absence of certain behaviors) will be identified so that attendees will better know what to look for and look out for and what each can do to collaboratively achieve optimal results short and long-term.
