Calvert County, Prince Frederick: ‘Special Education: What Parents Need to Know, and Answers to Frequently Asked Questions’

Whether you’re new to special education or have been involved for a while, this workshop is for you! This workshop will explore the parent’s role in the IEP process. Parents will learn the basics of the child’s right to special education services, how the process of developing special education plans works, and the parent’s
role in developing an IEP that is responsive to a child’s needs.

 What IDEA says about the IEP process
 Your role as a parent in the IEP process
 Strategies for your effective involvement in the IEP process
 Effective responses to common myths, misperceptions, and objections to meeting a child’s unique needs
