Parent Training: Pre-Guiding the Journey
January 11, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm EST
Presented by the Parents’ Place of Maryland
Preparing for the transition from school to adulthood for youth with disabilities and special healthcare needs can be challenging and scary for families. It can be difficult to know where to begin or what the priorities should be.
This FREE two-session training, which includes the use of Charting the LifeCourseTM tools, will help parents prepare early to navigate this process and develop a unique Pre-Transition Action Plan for and with their child.
During this training, parents will…
- Gain an understanding of their changing role
- Create an Action Plan to help prepare for transition
- Better understand the transition section in the IEP (and
how to advocate for effective goals!)
- Discover local and national resources
Date: January 11, 2020, Time: 9 am to 4 pm
Who should apply:
Parents of transition aged students (ages 13-14) who have an IEP or 504 plan. Participants must commit to attending both sessions.
