The Arc Prince George’s County to Host Series on Transitioning from School to Adult Life
UPPER MARLBORO, MD – The Arc Prince George’s County is set to begin Transition 101, a six-session workshop series to help families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) prepare for the transition to independent adulthood their children will soon face.
The monthly workshop series was made possible by a grant from the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council and will run from September 2017 through May 2018.
Each two-hour seminar is designed for parents of transitioning I/DD youth ages 14-21.
“The information being offered through this series is not easily available but so very essential to the well being of children with disabilities transitioning into adulthood,” says Melonee Clark, Outreach and Resource Program Administrator for The Arc Prince George’s County. “Families are vulnerable to losing necessary benefits if they are not educated on how to transition and take action in a timely fashion.”
