With a long history in the field of education, Sonya has a varied background in all facets of special education ranging from early intervention to adulthood in West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland. In addition to professional duties as an educator, Sonya has been a parent, advocate, and caregiver on the receiving end of educational and legal processes, in supporting a family member with a serious mental illness. These daily struggles have led to numerous frustrating and exhausting processes. Sonya is very excited to work with her colleagues at PPMD and together collaborate as a team to help navigate procedures and processes for families requiring supports from infancy into adulthood, leading to relief and hope for their loved one’s future with empathy and grace.
