Guiding the Journey 14: Preparing for Life After High School
The transition from school to adulthood for youth with disabilities and special healthcare needs can be challenging. It can be difficult to know where to begin or what the priorities should be. This FREE virtual training, which includes Charting the Lifecourse Tools, will help parents navigate this process and develop a vision and transition action plan with their youth.
This training is for parents or guardians of youth age 14 (or turning 14 soon) who have an IEP or
504 plan.
During this training, parents will…
• Gain an understanding of their changing role;
• Complete homework individualized to their youth;
• Develop a customized Vision and Action Plan.

SERC Webinar – Understanding Dyslexia
Participants will learn about the role of the brain in reading and dyslexia. Early warning signs, as well as critical indicators and core deficits, will be presented. We will review special education law with an emphasis on specific learning disabilities and dyslexia. A discussion of clinical diagnosis versus educational classification, and IEPs versus 504 Plans, will guide participants to consider these nuances in the contexts of schools.
